Bank Suitor Pushes Deal for Cohoes, N.Y., Bank, Asks for List of Shareholders.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Jul. 18--Ambanc Holding Co. Inc., complaining that its $120 million offer to buy Cohoes Bancorp Inc. is not being taken seriously, wants to step up its pursuit.

On Monday, the parent of Mohawk Community Bank asked Cohoes Bancorp to turn over a list of shareholders. With the list, Ambanc can then move on a variety of options -- including direct appeal -- to convince shareholders to take the offer.

"Management and the board of directors of Ambanc are very disappointed that Cohoes suggested that our proposal to acquire all of the shares of Cohoes stock is not a bona fide offer," said John Lisicki, Ambanc's president and chief executive officer.

Cohoes' response: Bah.
