Jul. 19--RURAL/METRO GAINS CREDIT EXTENSION: Rural/Metro Corp. said its banks granted it a third extension of the waiver of its credit agreement. The Scottsdale-based ambulance and firefighting company said the new agreement runs through Oct. 14.
Rural/Metro is wrapping up a restructuring that resulted in about 1,000 layoffs, none in Arizona.
Restructuring charges pushed the company out of compliance with its credit agreement. Rural/Metro said it hopes to negotiate a permanent banking deal before the new waiver expires.
