Coca-Cola Names No. 2 Executive for Companys Largest Operating Group.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Jul. 21--Coca-Cola has named marketing executive Jeffrey Dunn to the new position of deputy group president for its North America operations.
Dunn, 43, immediately assumes the No. 2 job in the company's largest operating group, which has experienced sluggish sales in recent quarters. He likely becomes the leading candidate to succeed current group President Ralph Cooper, 60.
"In his new role, Jeff will have responsibility for the development of the 2001 business plan for Coca-Cola North America," Coke President Jack Stahl said Thursday in an e-mail to all U.S. employees. Stahl headed the operating group before being elevated to president of Coca-Cola earlier this year.
