Drug Maker Eli Lilly Reports 16 Percent Increase in Quarterly Profit.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Jul. 21--Prozac's sales plunged, but the drugs Eli Lilly and Co. is less famous for boosted the drugmaker's revenue and profit by double-digit levels in the second quarter.
Profit jumped 16 percent to $666 million and sales rose 12 percent to $2.62 billion, compared to the same quarter last year, Lilly reported Thursday.
Soaring sales of the schizophrenia drug Zyprexa and osteoporosis treatment Evista more than offset the 9 percent decline in sales of Lilly's top-selling antidepressant Prozac.
While Prozac brought in $61 million less in this year's second quarter compared to last year's, Zyprexa and Evista together generated $225 million more revenue from the year-ago period.
