Aug. 4--Many of the people who buy marriage licenses in Hamilton County each year leave the area for the actual nuptials.

That has led a Chattanooga family to launch a new business locally to keep some of those blessed events here by offering a full-service wedding chapel in the old James County Courthouse in Ooltewah.

They did their research before taking the plunge.

"Every year for the last 10 years, the number of marriage licenses in Hamilton County has increased by a few thousand," said Sharron McCarthy.

She recently joined her sister, Karen Petty, and her brother, Milton C. Vincent, to open the Mountain Oaks Wedding Chapel and Bridal Boutique at the onetime county courthouse.

"We found that 60 percent (of applicants)...
