Compaq Chief Attends Opening of New Facility in Colorado Springs, Colo.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Aug. 29--As the head of one of the world's largest computer companies, Michael Capellas is an extraordinarily busy man.
On any given workday, the president and chief executive officer of Compaq Computer Corp. arrives at his Houston office by 6 a.m., spends most of the day meeting with clients and Compaq executives and eventually heads home at about 7 in the evening, only to spend the next several hours reading e-mail.
So when the captain of Compaq flew to Colorado Springs to observe the opening of the company's new 22,000-square-foot facility at 301 Rockrimmon Road, it was a pretty big deal.
Capellas, 45, flew into the Springs on a company jet, met with local Compaq employees and gave a five-minute speech to officially open the $7 million...
