Aug. 30--A road project in Oakhurst and an assisted-living home in Madera Ranchos received more than $450,000 in loans through a federal agency Tuesday.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development project gave a low-interest loan of $344,445 to Madera County's road department to grade and pave 4.4 miles of road in the Oakhurst area.
The roads to be worked on include John West Road, Little Lake Road, Jean Road East and West, Taylor Mountain Court and Scott Drive.
The project aims to reduce air pollution from dust, reduce maintenance costs and provide a smoother driving surface and improved access for emergency vehicles as well as for property owners.
