Sep. 18--WEB CONSULTANTS FEEL DOT-COM PINCH: Internet consultants delighted Wall Street investors when their stock prices soared and customers lined up at their front doors, anxious to build vibrant Web sites.
But the surge couldn't last forever.
And earlier this month, the dot-com turmoil that began when investors began spurning virtual retailers spilled over to the technology consultants that helped create the new marketplace.
Triggered by Viant Corp.'s warning that its third-quarter earnings would fall short of expectations, the stock prices of consultants like Scient Corp., Breakaway Solutions Inc., and Sapient Corp. spiraled downward.
