Sep. 26--FEAR AND ANGST ON THE TECH FRONT: David Santos was having a rough morning.
Intel had just reported an earnings shortfall, and the Nasdaq Composite index was crumbling. Santos's fund, the brand-new Putnam Technology Fund, was taking its lumps, along with the rest of the market.
But Santos's basic optimism about technology wasn't dented at all. "When you invest in technology you are going to have periods of fear and angst," he explained.
Santos's $180 million fund was launched in July, but he has been investing in tech stocks for Putnam Investments since 1992. We spoke with him to get his take on the current market.
