Some Boston Red Sox Partners Urge a Non-Fenway Site for New Ballpark.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Sep. 28--As the Red Sox struggle to secure private financing for a new ballpark in the Fenway, some of the team's limited partners have urged team chief executive John Harrington to begin considering alternative sites in Somerville, Everett, and Revere.

After spending years and millions of dollars designing the team's proposed new home, Harrington has told supporters he still wants to build the ballpark in the Fenway, as outlined in legislation passed in July.

However, Harrington has previously warned that if the team can't control land costs in the Fenway, it may not be able to finance the $350 million or more the Sox must invest in the project. In that case, Harrington has privately indicated he is open to other sites, sources close to the team...
