Oct. 6--Koch Industries and four of its senior employees are scheduled to appear today in federal court in Corpus Christi, Texas.
They are charged with deliberately violating air pollution laws and conspiring to lie about problems at a Texas refinery.
Koch calls the charges outrageous; all are expected to enter pleas of not guilty.
The 97 felony charges against Koch come at a time of increasing prosecution of environmental crimes and lengthening sentences.
The federal government set a record last year in criminal prosecution of environmental crimes.
The Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Justice put more people in jail for longer sentences than ever before, with 322 people being sentenced for a total of...
