California Defense Laboratory Offers Biotech Consortium for Private Firms.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Oct. 21--LIVERMORE, Calif. -- The University of California, Davis, and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory have formed a group to give private-sector companies access to medical and technological expertise to speed the development of medical products.
Companies interested in joining the Industry Partners Consortium for Bio and Medical Technology Development are invited to attend its first the Bio and Medical Technology summit Nov. 7-8 at the UC Laurel Heights Conference Facility in San Francisco.
The summit will focus on advances in cancer treatment and other medical technology. The consortium is designed to pair doctors at UC Davis with scientists at the Livermore lab to help businesses create medical products.
