Oct. 31--ARMONK, N.Y.--IBM, the world's largest computer-maker, is introducing new software, hardware and services for companies selling wireless connections to the Internet.
The products and services are designed to serve millions of customers who want wireless Web access but use different kinds of devices with odd screen sizes and different operating systems.
Potential customers range from traditional phone companies and wireless-services start-ups to corporations that want to let employees have wireless access to company databases through Web-linked handheld devices.
IBM thinks the move to wireless Internet access in Europe is about 18 months ahead of the United States, so testing of the new IBM software has largely been taking place...
