Nov. 3--The state's largest phone company apparently has vexed fewer people this year, judging by the number of complaints filed with state regulators.
And Qwest Communications' top repair executive said Thursday that his company has indeed improved its service, and he pledged the improvement will continue.
Even the state's top utility regulator said the company was making strides.
In September, the Oregon Public Utility Commission registered 264 complaints against Qwest, compared with 452 complaints against US West Communications in September 1999. Qwest bought US West, the state's dominant telephone service provider, on July 1.
For the first nine months of 2000, complaints totaled 2,330, compared with 4,181 in 1999, when US West...
