Nov. 5--Just as one picture might be worth a thousand words, virtual images are proving priceless for the real estate industry.

Combining state-of-the art digital photography with three-dimensional, virtual-reality software, architects are conjuring up realistic looks at a building's exterior, taking their clients on lifelike tours of a building's interior, showing them exactly what they'd see as they gaze out a window toward a very real Pikes Peak.

Land planners can plop the image of a proposed office complex into a photo of undeveloped land to show nearby homeowners the actual height and mass of the new buildings and whether they'd block mountain views.
