Lucent Shuffles Its Senior Management Team in Effort to Streamline.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Nov. 8--Lucent Technologies yesterday revamped its senior management team in an effort to streamline the world's largest maker of communications equipment and quicken the pace of decisionmaking.
The changes, the first executive shuffling engineered by new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Henry Schacht since replacing Rich McGinn late last month, will broaden the responsibilities of three top executives at the Murray Hill-based company.
McGinn was fired by Lucent after the company issued its fourth profit warning of the year. Lucent, which exceeded earnings forecasts for 15 consecutive quarters before stumbling this past January, missed a crucial product cycle in the red-hot optical networking market and has had trouble building equipment fast...
