Sprint Wireless Comes to Boulder, Colo., Area.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Nov. 14--Boulder area residents and small businesses now have a new, fast Internet option: Sprint will offer fixed wireless services starting today.
"What we're really selling here is speed," said Dave Beckmann, general manager of Sprint Broadband in Denver. "When you're on the Internet with our service, it's as fast as turning pages in a book."
The Sprint Broadband Direct service is available to the Denver-Boulder region -- basically anyone within sight-line to Eldorado Mountain, where Sprint's radio transmission tower is located.
A 14-inch by 14-inch digital receiver is installed on the customer's home or office, typically on the roof. The tower sends and receives Internet data in a 32-mile radius. Since the data is sent through the air,...
