EarthLink Deal to Help Time Warner Gain Approval for America Online Merger.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Nov. 21--Time Warner has agreed to carry EarthLink, the No. 2 Internet service provider, on its high-speed cable network, an arrangement that's calculated to help the company win regulatory approval for its pending merger with America Online.

The New York-based media giant also announced Monday that the deadline for the anti-trust review of the AOL deal has been extended to mid-December, giving the Federal Trade Commission time to look over the agreement with EarthLink.

Under this deal, Time Warner's high-speed access customers will be allowed to choose between AOL or EarthLink as their online providers. EarthLink's full package of high-speed Internet access, content, and applications, including video streaming, will be made available through Time...
