Russian IMF Director Speaks to Memphis, Tenn., Business Leaders.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Dec. 1--Aleksei Mozhin told more than 100 Memphis business leaders Thursday night that great economic strides have been achieved in Russia, but the country still must focus on longterm policies if prosperity is to continue.
Mozhin, who has lived in Washington for the last eight years, is executive director for the Russian Federation of the International Monetary Fund.
"Russia is doing exceedingly good now, but it's the result of high oil prices," he said. "Of all Russia exports, about 40 to 50 percent is oil and gas related."
Mozhin, who has been a Russian government employee since 1992, was guest speaker at the Economic Club of Memphis.
He is one of 24 executive directors of the IMF who meets three days a week to discuss world...
