Dec. 28--WASHINGTON--If you've shielded yourself in one of the monster-size vehicles that rule the road, you might be disturbed by new government rollover safety ratings.

The idea that the bigger the vehicle the safer it is will be turned on its head with the upcoming release of vehicle rollover ratings by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The worst rollover safety ratings are expected to go to the biggest 2001 model sport-utilities and pickups, which will be branded most prone to roll in a single-vehicle crash.

Among the sport-utilities likely to be rated poorly for its rollover risk is the Ford Explorer, tarnished but not dethroned as the world's top-selling sport-utility vehicle. So far, 148 deaths have been linked to...
