Upscale Restaurant atop Portland, Ore., Office Tower May Close.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Jan. 4--Atwaters, the upscale Portland destination beloved for serving up sweeping city views, stellar jazz and creative cocktails, will likely serve its last meal on Valentine's Day.
Another restaurant may replace Atwaters atop the U.S. Bancorp Tower, or building owner Unico Properties Inc. may turn the prime space into offices, a Unico spokesman said Wednesday.
Craig Glazier, general manager of the tower for Unico, said the company isn't interested in owning restaurants.
"We are in the real estate business of leasing space to retail and office users. Nobody buys an asset like this and doesn't expect to earn a return," he said of the tower.
