Peoria, Ill.-Area Economy Shows Signs of Weakening Economic Growth.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Jan. 6--PEORIA, Ill.--Despite record- high consumer confidence in the fall, underlying concerns were evident about future economic growth, according to data collected by Bradley University.
Bernard Goitein, director of survey research at the Center for Business and Economic Research, Foster College of Business Administration at Bradley, released findings Friday from his survey of households in the Peoria-Pekin area.
"Overall, people appear confident about the future, but two patterns emerge indicating weakening attitudes," Goitein said.
People are still concerned about interest rates and are less willing to commit to car and new home purchases.
People were less willing to incur credit card debt and 17 percent said they were better...
