Feb. 21--THE USE OF DEBIT cards is growing. They account for 21 percent of all shopping transactions each month, compared with 22 percent for credit cards, 39 percent for cash and 18 percent for checks, according to a 1999 study sponsored by the American Bankers Association.
CHINA CONTINUES TO PREPARE for entry to the World Trade Organization (WTO) this year with extensive training and other programs, even as negotiations for joining drag on. A group of experts assembled by the World Affairs Council agreed yesterday, however, that China will be in the global organization soon.
