Justice Department Clears Way for Sale of Milwaukee-Based Company's Yeast Unit.

Feb. 24--Sensient Technologies Corp. has apparently reached an agreement to sell its Red Star Yeast division to Lesaffre et Compagnie, a French yeast manufacturer -- two months after an initial attempt to sell Red Star fell apart.
The U.S. Justice Department's antitrust division on Friday granted conditional approval to Milwaukee-based Sensient's plans to sell Red Star to Paris-based Lesaffre. That approval requires Sensient to keep its 20 percent stake in Minn-Dak Yeast Co., a small yeast producer based in Wahpeton, N.D.
Including Minn-Dak in the sale, the department said, would have reduced the number of independent yeast producers in the United States from...
