Feb. 24--Academy Sports & Outdoors confirms that it will build a second store in Tulsa.
A site plan for a new location at 81st Street and Mingo Road was approved Wednesday by city authorities, said Casey Ramm, executive director of communications for the Katy, Texas-based sporting goods retailer.
The city's surging growth to the southeast has made that part of town ripe for another retail outlet, he said.
"We look at Tulsa as a viable market -- we've done well there," Ramm said.
Ramm said it is too early to estimate a construction or opening date.
"We're working through the permit process, and it all depends on that process," he said....
