FAA May Pull Plug on Radar Service at Pueblo, Colo., Airport.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Feb. 6--Federal aviation officials are studying whether it is cost-effective to transfer radar monitoring equipment and air traffic control staff from Pueblo Memorial Airport to Colorado Springs Airport.
Pueblo county and city officials have sent letters objecting to any loss of service to regional FAA headquarters in Renton, Wash., and also have asked the state's congressional delegation to intervene.
"Taking the radar away from our airport would be a serious setback to our economic development efforts," said Council President Al Gurule, who also sits on the city's airport advisory committee.
