Mar. 7--BOEING ADDS $2 BILLION IN ORDERS: Boeing says it has won orders valued at almost $2 billion for as many as 33 single-aisle aircraft, boosting its orders for the year by 50 percent.
CIT Group's aviation-leasing unit agreed to buy 20 Boeing 737-700 jetliners and five 757-300s, which it will lease to airlines worldwide. Air 2000, a leisure carrier based in Britain, plans to buy up to eight 757-200s.
Boeing had 65 orders through Feb. 27. The sales are a lift for the Seattle aircraft giant in what analysts have predicted could be a difficult year because of the slowing U.S. economy. Boeing has said orders could decline by as much as 50 percent industrywide this year.
