Executive Faces Accusations from Brief Period at Philadelphia Utility.

Mar. 15--Ramon Sharbutt's resume was chock-full of falsehoods, his personal credit report was questionable, his former employer was investigating him on charges of expense abuse and he'd had a minor scrape with the law.

But the Philadelphia Gas Works board didn't know any of that as it prepared to hire him as chief financial officer.

The reason was simple: PGW was relying on its headhunter firm, Philadelphia-based Cole, Warren & Long, and its execs didn't provide negative details, according to a grand jury report.

Sharbutt said he received a degree from the University of Alabama in 1972, but he never graduated from the school.
