Mar. 21--WATER TOWER MAKEOVER FOLLOWS 900 N. MICHIGAN DEBT DEAL: The long-awaited announcement of the renovation of Water Tower Place follows the quiet financial makeover earlier this year of another Magnificent Mile shopping shrine, 900 N. Michigan.

Chicago-based Urban Retail Properties Co. on Tuesday disclosed final plans for the $15 million Water Tower Place rehabilitation, which will give the 25-year-old mall a new, glassy look.

The new design calls for the covered sidewalk along Michigan Avenue to be turned into a glass-enclosed lobby, with three-story bay windows at the corners of the mixed-used developments.
