NASA Simulator Introduces Columbia, S.C.-Area Teens to Aeronautics.

Mar. 20--LaKesa McGraw has never flown.
"I'm frightened of planes," the W.A. Perry Middle School seventh-grader unabashedly said Monday.
But fear of flying didn't prevent the 12-year-old honor roll student from getting behind the throttle of a virtual reality aircraft and taking an imaginary plane for a two-minute spin -- courtesy of NASA.
The national space agency provided McGraw with the experience through its Mobile Aeronautics Education Laboratory, a high-tech classroom visiting Richland 1 this week.
The $2 million lab is a converted tractor-trailer equipped with a miniature wind tunnel and computers fitted with programs that challenge...
