Longmont, Colo., firm To Launch Third Satellite.

Mar. 23--LONGMONT, Colo.--EarthWatch Inc., which has weathered the failure of two satellite launches since 1997, announced plans Thursday to launch a third satellite this year.
QuickBird 2 is scheduled to be launched from Vandenberg Air Force base in California this October. The satellite is designed to capture and download 2-foot resolution images for a variety of commercial uses.
"The types of customers wanting to buy QuickBird imagery will buy it in a raw state," company spokesman Chuck Herring said. "In a few months, we will develop orthorectified photos."
