New York-Based Advertising Firm Acquires Chicago-Based Company.

Mar. 25--Now that John Dooner of Interpublic has wrested the title of world's biggest advertising man from WPP's Sir Martin Sorrell, what is left for anyone else to buy?
Dooner, chairman and chief executive of Interpublic, whose clients include Coca-Cola, Microsoft and General Motors, had his $1.9 billion stock offer for True North accepted last week.
It is Dooner's first big acquisition -- he only took over from the abrasive, cigar-chomping Phil Geier at the start of the year. He is from the same mould, however, and his 27 years at Interpublic have been characterised by an aggressive management style and his success in transforming the flagship agency...
