Texas Cattlemen, Officials Petition White House for Foot-and-Mouth Task Force.

Mar. 30--Texas cattlemen and government officials asked President Bush Thursday to create a federal task force to help protect U.S. livestock from the foot-and-mouth virus now ravaging Europe's herds.
State Agriculture Commissioner Susan Combs said she's confident that Mr. Bush will look at the idea of a task force.
"He will consider many different ways to have government agencies collaborate on this," she said. "One of my contacts in Washington told me the president is receiving a daily update on foot-and-mouth disease, so I know he's concerned."
