More Than 2,000 Chrysler Workers Accept Early-Retirement Packages.

Mar. 2--More than 2,000 salaried workers at DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Group have accepted early-retirement packages from the company.

Officials at the Auburn Hills headquarters of Chrysler said 4,000 white-collar employees in the United States are eligible for regular retirement or one of its special programs. Currently, 86 percent of workers that received a retirement package have responded, the company said.

"As of the close of business Wednesday, Feb. 28, there were 2,070 out of 4,000 employees that opted to accept early retirement," said Jodi Tinson, spokeswoman for Chrysler. "There are still offers out there that haven't been tallied or returned, so...
