New York Energy Board Looks to Enact Consumer-Protection Measures.

Apr. 5--Consumers are bound for a high-priced, volatile ride through newly competitive electricity markets if action is not taken to protect them, the New York State Electric & Gas Corp. warned Wednesday.
At the same time, NYSEG ratcheted up its dissatisfaction with findings from the non-profit group that oversees the state's power grid and electricity markets. The New York Independent System Operator last month urged creation of 8,600 megawatts of new electricity by 2005; NYSEG holds that target is "very unrealistic," said Ralph Tedesco, the company's president.
