New England Region Has Ample Power Supply, Power Official Says.

Apr. 25--New England won't face the rolling blackouts that have plagued California this year, even if energy demand hits record levels this summer, the operator of the region's power grid said yesterday.
Unlike California, New England has been adding power plants aggressively during the economy's boom, according to ISO New England Inc. in Holyoke. Nine new plants are up and running since last year, grid officials said, enough to produce 10 percent more power and to exceed demand as summer heats up.
