Intel Ponders More Land Acquisition in Colorado Springs, Colo., Area.

Apr. 25--Chipmaking giant Intel Corp. has an option to acquire enough land in Colorado Springs to build its second-largest campus.

The San Jose, Calif.-based company has signed a one-year option on a 700-acre parcel about 3 miles south of the Colorado Springs airport.

The agreement gives Intel a year to decide whether to buy the undeveloped site for $5.23 million. The company has also placed a nonrefundable $300,000 down payment on the site.

Intel will spend the next year conducting a comprehensive assessment of the land, said company spokeswoman Deanna Sauceda.
