Records, Recollections of Deadly Night During Vietnam Mission Differ.

Apr. 26--WASHINGTON--Neither the U.S. Navy nor the Department of Defense has launched a formal investigation into Bob Kerrey's disclosure that, as a Navy lieutenant in 1969, he was involved in the deaths of at least a dozen Vietnamese civilians.

There are discrepancies among three versions of the Feb. 25, 1969, incident -- one from Kerrey, one from an enlisted man in Kerrey's Navy SEAL unit and the official version contained in military records. It is the official version that led Kerrey to receive a Bronze Star "for heroic achievement."
