May 1--Halliburton Co. signed a definitive agreement to buy the seismic mapping company, Magic Earth Inc., in a stock trade valued at about $100 million, the companies said Monday.

Magic Earth, based in Houston, develops software used by supercomputers to interpret seismic data and convert it to three-dimensional images.

The data help companies drill accurately and recover oil and natural gas.
