Colorado Congressman Requests More Cash for Ranch Buy in Future National Park.

May 3--U.S. Rep. Scott McInnis, R-Colo., asked a House subcommittee Wednesday to appropriate the remaining $24.5 million needed to purchase the Baca Ranch -- a prerequisite for the Great Sand Dunes in the San Luis Valley to be upgraded to a national park.

McInnis appeared before the House Interior Appropriations Subcommittee and asked the panel to include the request for the remaining purchase funds in the fiscal year budget.

"Last year, Congress passed and the president signed legislation to establish the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Reserve, a bill that also authorized the Department of Interior to acquire the 100,000-acre Baca Ranch," McInnis said....
