Playboy Finds Shareholders in its Hometown Much More Tame Than in New York.

May 10--The consistently poised Christie Hefner looked a little surprised as she gazed from the lectern Wednesday and saw that nobody else at Playboy Enterprises Inc.'s annual meeting had any questions.

Nobody asked Hefner, Playboy's chairman and chief executive, about the company's slumbering stock price, or about the usually controversial annual payments the company makes ($3.15 million last year) to operate the Playboy mansion, where her septuagenarian father lives the life of, well, a playboy.

These sensitive issues have been raised loudly during recent Playboy annual meetings in New York, but not Wednesday, the first time in eight years the Chicago-based company...
