Texas Natural Gas Utility Southern Union Co. Names New President.

May 15--Southern Union Co., the parent of the company that supplies natural gas to Austin residents and more than a half-million customers in Texas, named Thomas Karam president and chief operating officer, replacing longtime President Peter Kelley.
Kelley, 54, resigned for undisclosed health reasons and he also will leave the company's board of directors. He had worked at Southern Union since 1990. The natural gas utility is one of Austin's largest public companies with $831.7 million in revenue in 2000. Southern Union serves 177,000 customers in Austin and surrounding cities.
