Former Hampton, Va.-Area Air Force Base Worker Pursues Discrimination Suit.

May 18--A former Langley Air Force Base employee who sued the Air Force under the Americans with Disabilities Act has won and plans to seek millions of dollars in damages.

Rodney Groom, 57, claimed in his lawsuit that top Air Force officers at Langley conspired to remove him as base golf course manager because a stroke left him in a condition that didn't measure up to the image the Air Force wanted to portray.

Groom managed the Eaglewood Golf Course at Langley for a time in 1994 before his stroke. Afterward, he was demoted and his pay was cut.

The Air Force said Groom's career plummeted because of poor job performance.
