University of Oregon Professor Links Carbon Dioxide, Global Warming, Again.

May 21--A University of Oregon geology professor has tracked the link between carbon dioxide and global warming back millions of years by reading tree leaves.

Using fossil leaves from the ginkgo tree, Greg Retallack has found that carbon dioxide and global warming are a team that go back almost 300 million years. It's a discovery that may put to rest any lingering doubt that carbon-dioxide is turning up the heat on the world's climate.

Retallack's research, published in the latest issue of the journal Nature, extends the known connection between temperature and the greenhouse gas back a hundredfold.
