International Paper Will Close Another Bag Machine.

May 19--International Paper announced Friday that it will shut down a machine used to make paper, the second such closure since March.

Company officials gave the news to union leaders Friday morning, and they began telling employees, said Bernie Polite, communications manager for International Paper.

Machine No. 2 produces the paper used to make bags, and 44 people work four shifts a day to operate it, Polite said. However, the company does not know how many of those 44 will be laid off because of the shut down, he said.
