Blockbuster Gets Positive Review of Settlement Offer.

Jun. 7--Public relations consultants gave Blockbuster Inc. mostly positive reviews for its offer of free and discounted movie-rental coupons to settle several class-action lawsuits stemming from its late fee policies.
But a few experts questioned whether consumers would see it more as a calculated legal maneuver than as a gesture of good customer relations.
The Dallas-based video-store company faces 23 class-action lawsuits in several states charging it with unfairly profiting from excessive fees on movies returned late. The penalties last year accounted for 16 percent, or $795.8 million, of the chain's total rental revenue of $4.16 billion.
