More Flights to Require New Approach to Air Traffic Control, Boeing Says.

Jun. 7--Squeezing more flights into the country's cluttered skies will require advanced satellite systems and a new approach to controlling air traffic, according to a sweeping Boeing Co. plan released Wednesday.

Coupled with a far-reaching Federal Aviation Administration proposal to overhaul the nation's airspace, Boeing said, the plan could accommodate another 15 years of growth in commercial aviation.

"The current system needs dynamic change," said John Hayhurst, president of Boeing's Air Traffic Management unit. "We believe there is no silver bullet, but there is an achievable solution to this crisis."
