Philanthropist Gives $2 Million for West Virginia University Concert Hall.

Jun. 6--Charleston philanthropist Lyell Clay pledged $2 million Tuesday to renovate West Virginia University's main concert hall, paving the way for live statewide broadcasts of performances there.

"This has been a dream of mine for years," WVU college of creative arts Dean Bernard Schultz told Clay at a formal announcement of the gift Tuesday morning in Charleston. "Thank you."

The 1,400-seat concert hall, known as the WVU Creative Arts Center Concert Theatre since it was built in 1968, will be renamed the Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre.
