Labor Romps to Win in Britain Giving Mandate for Blair.

Jun. 8--LONDON -- Tony Blair and his Labor Party cruised to another landslide victory yesterday, overcoming apathy and a flaccid opposition to become the first Labor government ever to win back-to-back elections.
The easy victory contrasted with recent victories by conservatives in some of the world's biggest industrialized democracies -- the United States, Italy, and Japan. Blair's ability to portray his administration as one that can manage a booming economy while retaining a social conscience is likely to be emulated by the left-of-center coalitions in France and Germany that face reelection contests next year.
