California Public Utilities Commission Tells Verizon to Pay Restitution.

Jun. 15--SAN FRANCISCO--The California Public Utilities Commission ordered Verizon Communications Inc. to pay restitution to former customers of its OneSource program who ended up paying higher rates early this year after they dropped OneSource to meet a company-imposed deadline.

Verizon improperly warned 200,000 customers that they had until March 19 to replace the local telephone connection they got through OneSource even though regulators had not yet approved a shutdown of the program, the PUC said.

On Thursday the commission, by a 4-0 vote, approved that shutdown but ordered Verizon to give OneSource customers another 30-day notice....
